Thurrock has an incredible history as the crossroads of history and life. There was a Pilgrims Trail at Tilbury, Queen Elizabeth I rallied her troops at Tilbury Fort against the Armada, and the Port of Tilbury was a key access point for people from the Commonwealth.
We will be launching the Thurrock History Timeline in July.
Meanwhile, help us get all the old copies of Thurrock Gazette digitised at the British Newspaper Archive website. Thurrock Gazette began life as Grays & Tilbury Gazette, became Essex and Thurrock Gazette before adopting its present name in 1966.
