The Badenoch and Strathspey Music Festival Association (StrathFest), was founded over 60 years ago to promote the development and enjoyment of music and the performing arts, across all age groups within the area, and from further afield. It is run by a dedicated team of committed volunteers. The main festival and competitions take place in March, with fundraising and associated events throughout the year.
Chairperson of StrathFest, Mary-Ann Connolly, has strong links with Thurrock. She was Cultural Project Officer from 2004-2009 and introduced Artistic Director of Thurrock Festival, Hi Ching, to the borough. Though she now lives in Scotland, she maintains a close bond with Thurrock through sharing StrathFest activities with Thurrock Festival. She is also a Director of AAAHA, the not for profit company that produces Thurrock Festival.
